The Change Of a Lifetime

Since the COVID-19 lock-down era, we have started seeing the world through a different perspective - a relaxing, stress free and a much more happier perspective. This lock-down, no matter how bad for the economy, trade etc has also taught us some good values and made us aware and thankful for the smallest and most under-appreciated things in life.

True, sometimes we were overwhelmed by feelings such as loneliness, boredom, nostalgia etc, but that only encouraged us to entertain ourselves in some ways which led to the advent of many interesting hobbies. During this one-year lock-down many of us have learnt different things like various musical instruments, interesting recipes, better and beautiful gardening techniques and much more thrilling pastimes! I myself had started to learn the guitar at the beginning of the lock-down and now am learning how to speak French! In short, because we had to stop meeting and interacting with others, we actually met, interacted and explored ourselves....

Before the lock-down all of us had the same boring, repetitive lives....we had to stick to a routine. Going out with your friends or family for even two days had to be planned beforehand. By the time we would somehow reach the weekend, we would have been already converted into half-dead zombies!! When almost the whole world was shut down, it was just four or five people in a house. All the families had started to do different things together for entertainment and in turn spend more time with their loved ones. It made us understand that a home isn't simply made of bricks and mortar....it's made up of the people who live inside it and who love each other from the depths of their heart.

Lock-down meant no access to junk food, which meant more home-cooked meals. This also made the people aware about how much money they wasted on junk food and how their lives are better without it. The smell of burgers and fries is nothing compared to the fresh taste and the mouth-watering aroma of naan and matar-paneer in the kitchen! It's better to have a glass of lassi instead of that sugary and carbonated drink. Need something sweet? It's okay to have some jalebis once in a while! We are slowly understanding the importance of healthy living and healthy eating. Now we are giving more attention to exercise and yoga and our diets. Can't say it's that bad! ;-)

So, on an end note I'd just like to say that even though many of us have faced some trying times and have lost many of our closed ones due to the corona virus, this change was much needed. It's like Mother Nature was telling us that we should be content with what we have and not ask for more, because what we have right now, is actually sufficient. We should cherish and find happiness even in the smallest of things and thank God everyday for the things he has given us. Thus, this pandemic was actually a blessing in disguise. And as rightly said by a great person- "Whatever happens, happens for good".
