Evergreen Reads❤❤

Hi Guys!

Since the lock down restrictions are gonna ease up in 2021 all of us are hoping to get back on our normal routines that we had before the pandemic. But getting back on track means focusing more on work and less time for your hobbies! So, I decided to make a list of 10 very engrossing and gripping books to choose from your enormous book-list.

P.S: Most of them are mystery novels 'cause I love them!!

1) 13 REASONS WHY- JAY ASHER

This book is the the BEST book that I've ever read. Not only is this is a type of thriller that will keep you awake at night but also it follows a very different kind of a story. It's about Hannah -a teenager who commits suicide because of her own personal, twisted reasons (13 reasons to be exact). Then a few days later a boy named Clay, who had a crush on her, gets a videotape from Hannah (along with 12 others). The videotape highlights all the people who had affected her life without even knowing it.To know more about what's in the videotape, press the play button...I dare you.

2) THE MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS- AGATHA CHRISTIE

You might not have read this book but I'm pretty sure that you have heard of it. The Murder on The Orient Express is a classic and Agatha Christie's most famous novel. As you might have guessed it's about a murder which takes place on The Orient Express when it gets stuck at a station because of snow. The main character of the story is Monsieur Hercule Poirot, a very famous and intelligent detective with an amazing moustache :). Read ahead in the novel about how he interviews every single member in the train and crosses out each alternative only to reach at the most baffling conclusion. I promise it will leave your mind in a frenzy!

3)ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES-JENNIFER NIVEN

From my personal experience, I think Jennifer Niven is an amazing author. I'm not going to give you spoilers, but this is actually a very tragic kinda love story. Violet Markey is a girl who has survival's guilt. Theodore Finch, a guy whose past and present are kind of confusing. He's always a little too vague and suffers from depression and anxiety. As they two get to know each other, they find out that even the most smallest and the silliest of moments matter. You can't keep living in the past. At some point you need to let go of it so that it can let go of you. I can't say that every person will like this book as sometimes it's a little too much (if you know what I mean). But, for the people who are looking for sappy, love stories...well enjoy :)

4)THE FAULT IN OUR STARS-JOHN GREEN

I don't usually cry while watching movies and reading books...but this story is different. Hazel Grace is a 16-year old girl who was diagnosed with a type of thyroid cancer which is ultimately spreading to her lungs. She doesn't wants to get close to people, knowing that her death will hurt them deeply. All of this changes when she meets Augustus, a guy with osteosarcoma (type of bone cancer). But, Augustus is the total opposite of her....he's friendly, a little bit of a clown and most of all, he is the only one who understands her. The first part of the story is about where they meet, get to know each other, and then unknowingly open up to each other. The second part of the story is based on Hazel's liking of the book "An Imperial Affliction" by the infamous author Peter Van Houten. To fulfill Hazel's wish, Gus takes her to Amsterdam to meet the author. Amsterdam is like the climax or the twist of the book..it's where all the truth comes out and everything changes. It's the beginning of the end. To find out about what happens in Amsterdam.....just flip a page.

5)HOLDING UP THE UNIVERSE-JENNIFER NIVEN

Okay...I swear this is the last sappy book that I'm gonna talk about. This is also a different kind of a love story. It's literally BLIND LOVE. The story follows Libby Strout, the girl who was once dubbed as "America's Fattest Teen". It's about how, when she got bullied she spoke up and decided to put an end to all the nonsense people said about her. Libby was already of a strong mind, she did not need a knight in shining armour to help her...but as fate would be,she met Jack Masselin, the coolest guy in the school, the guy who is suffering from prosopagnosia (he can't remember faces) - in secret. He can't remember the faces of his friends,family...people he meets everyday! This time Jack's the one who needs help. Libby helps him to open up to his family and friends, and makes him understand that he is himself, he can't change that. Read ahead in the novel about the memories they make and the moments they share as they get tangled up by the mysterious Mr.Fate. And remember-beauty is on the inside.

6)THE DIVERGENT SERIES-VERONICA ROTH

The Divergent series is a trilogy, containing the books-Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant with an extra addition called Four which just has a different narrator. In this series the people left in the now destroyed world is divided into five groups or factions as they are called- Abnegation:selfless, Erudite:smartness, Candor:honesty, Dauntless:fearless and Amity:peace and kindness. Every person has to choose a faction with the help of a test when they turn 16. But among them are the people who don't belong to any of the above factions-the Divergent. Beatrice Prior is a Divergent. She can't tell the others about it as Divergents are considered to be outlaws, or mentally retarded people. Dive deeper into this world and then come to know about Four- one of the Dauntless, who helps Beatrice on her adventurous journey to save all the Divergents from the evil Erudite leader-Jeanine Matthews. This book has kept me engrossed for hours and hours and if I ever got a bad grade, then thanks a lot Ms.Roth ;P!!

7)PERCY JACKSON SERIES-RICK RIORDAN

Homework or fighting monsters, which is better? That's what this book is based upon! Meet Percy Jackson, a dyslexic guy who is also suffering from ADHD. And to make it more confusing....his dad is Poseidon, the Greek god of water! All of Mr. Riordan's books are based on different kinds of mythological stories. The Percy Jackson series is just one part of his amazing franchise. As Percy finds out more about being a demigod and Camp Half Blood (the camp for demigods), he also makes new friends like Annabeth Chase, the daughter of Athena and Grover Underwood, the satyr. Join the three of them as they fight with AND against the twelve mighty Olympians and find out more about this twisted world and there even more twisted parents! So, beware readers as you step in this waaaaay too screwed-up and gruesome world of Greek mythology.....'cause this ain't for the light hearted ones.

8)THE MAZE RUNNER SERIES-JAMES DASHNER

Like Percy Jackson, this is an another amazing series. But, this isn't related to any mythological stuff. It's fully based upon science and technology. Thomas loses his memory, and wakes up in the Box, around a bunch of people whom he has never seen before in his life. Later he comes to know that the place is called Glade. It's a place where an organisation called WCKD keeps test trials for experiments, only the test trials are real people! Thomas and his friends are trapped in this huge box like thing....and the only way to get out of here is to pass the Maze, a series of twists and turns and dangerous creatures. Only the Runners can go inside the Maze to try to find an exit. On top of that...the maze closes at night and also changes! But, the worst nightmares are the Grievers...strange and dangerous creatures who come out in the Maze during night-time. All of the people living in the Glade are boys, until one day Teresa comes up the box with a dreadful note which changes everything. Join Thomas and Teresa as they get used to life in the Glade and try to remember anything that helps them. I promise, not only will this series be an absolute thriller to read, but it will also give you scary nightmares!

9)THE TWILIGHT SERIES-STEPHANIE MEYER

If I could be anything I want, I'd be a vampire. When 17- year old Bella Swan leaves Phoenix to live with her father in Forks,Washington....little does she know that her life is about to change. She meets Edward Cullen, an exquisitely handsome guy. Edward immediately knows that Bella is different than the rest..but not in an abnormal way, unlike Edward who comes from a family of vampires. As they meet, sparks fly in every direction. This book is not about mere vampires, it's also about werewolves, dangerous myths and many tough decisions ahead! I remember reading this book and staying up late at night wondering what would our world be like if vampires and werewolves existed (not saying they don't!). Hopefully you guys will also enjoy it as you go deeper and find out about more deep, dark and hidden secrets and feel the icy chill deep in your veins 😈.

10)BIRD BOX-JOSH MALERMAN

When a mysterious creature wipes out the entire human population only some can survive. No one knows what it looks like...because as soon as you see it you get suicidal and kill yourself within a second. With blinds on her eyes and two children with her, Malorie tries to fight the creature with all her might and save herself and the children. She makes many friends in between, but in the end she treads alone in a lonely world. Only the birds can detect that abominable creature and signal the humans. I'm not gonna lie, I have not read the book but seen the movie. But, I plan on reading it this year. If you want a thriller/horror type book, this is the one. But, dear reader....never open your eyes.

So, I'm afraid we have come to an end. I just wanted to say that many of these books have movie adaptations, but I always prefer to read the books first. That's mainly because of two reasons- firstly, reading is a great habit and it helps to increase your vocabulary. Secondly, sometimes the movies twist the original story a bit to make it more interesting. For example, I'd give the Percy Jackson Movies 3 stars and the books, I'd give them about 3 thousand stars XD!

And, don't forget, as rightly said by Fredrick Douglas- "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free!"
