How to Study Smarter, Not Harder : Tips and Tricks

Each one of us has spent hours and hours banging our heads and spamming Google to understand or remember that ONE frustrating topic. It just might be the most annoying feeling in the world, especially for students😭 August is coming to an end and now the time is nearing for them to face their biggest fear - EXAMS (Exhausted Mind Syndrome) dun, dun, dun!! A frightening paranoia that leaves even the sharpest of minds searching for answers, exams are the most testing times in a student's life. I'm sure this must have happened with everyone...you have been studying that one subject for days on end, but during exam...your mind's a BLANK SPACE. So, in order to avoid that heart-breaking scenario, here are some tips and tricks which will help you in jump-starting your brain!😃

Let's meet our two best friends - Mr. Paper and Mrs. Pen

No matter what subject, whether it's Math or French, there's always some equation or formula that never gets into your head! It could be the #notsoawesome periodic table or the #weirdLatin names of biology scientists. From my personal experience, what I've observed is that no matter what the subject, writing plays a very important part. If you can't remember a formula or some name, write it down. Write it down one time, two times, fifty times! Just keep writing until its pasted inside your brain. This trick is a miracle worker, especially in subjects like Chemistry and Sanskrit when your mind starts questioning - What is life?!😶

Questions here, questions there, questions, questions everywhere!

One of the most common mistakes that children do is that instead of understanding the subject, they start cramming it inside their heads. NEVER LEAVE A DOUBT UNANSWERED. Ask your friend, your teacher, your parents...anybody! Keep asking them even if they block your number!😂 Believe me, you are bound to remember that question for a lifetime (or just until your exams are over😅) I myself have two really, really awesome friends who are like my personal Google...answers within minutes. Always stay in touch with these kind of people, who are ever-ready for a challenge and are always there to help you. Also, if someone asks you a doubt, instead of ignoring it thinking that it will waste your time, answer it! Not only does it gives you a quick recap, but it also helps the other guy!😍

The biggest mystery of Math - 1000's of years passed, millions of theorems derived, millions of formulas made, but still, "x" is unknown!

Prioritize your enemies and be ready for battle

Every person has a subject that he/she loves and a subject that he/she just wishes didn't exist (geometry). Always keep the hardest subjects, not the longest, aside for another time. Now that another time is that time when your mind is a clean slate. No distractions, no drowsiness, no nothing...only focus and determination. That time could be early in the morning or late at night...but remember, what's important is a fresh mind!😄

The friendly neighbors who make our lives easier

MNEMONICS! Everyone knows about them! They are amazing! Whenever you are having difficulty remembering a certain topic, always try to come up with your own mnemonics. A tip:- Try to make them as funny as possible, this makes it easier to remember. My own personal mnemonic that I had made to remember the halogens in the periodic table is - Fierce (Fluorine) Christiano (Chlorine) Brings (Bromine) Immediate (Iodine) Awesomeness (Astatine) - it's a work in progress. And yeah, try to share them with as many people as possible, this will help you to remember it and will make it more popular!😎

(admit it, you've done this once😜)

Most of us have this habit of confusing "studying" with homework (hours of my energy wasted on random knowledge). Guys, they are worlds apart. Studying includes revision and learning new things. It includes SELF-STUDYING mainly. Of course you can take help from your friends and family, and having group discussions is also quite fun and enriching...but nothing should replace self-study. To get to your goal, you don't need more books, you just need more revision. In the end, what matters is that you give your best and keep challenging yourself. And as rightly said by the 11th President of India Shri Abdul Kalam - "Success is when your signature becomes an autograph".
