How To Speak In Public Like A Pro💬

In the span of a day, we talk to so many people, our friends, family, pets, colleagues...even strangers. We talk endlessly about different topics related to work, home, school or entertainment. But as soon as we are invited to talk to a group of people formally, strangers or not, our heartbeat stops. We practice for days on end, search Google for soooo many tips, ask hundreds and thousands of advice from different people. But as soon as we climb up the stairs of that stage and look at the piercing stares of the audience, our brain sends this amazing message to our body - Heart tight, nail bite, tongue tied, please die!đŸ˜” So, to prevent that embarrassing situation, here are five pointers that might help you overcome this frightful fear of speaking. Scroll down :)

1.NEVER MEMORIZE YOUR SCRIPT.

A big no-no. Memorizing leads to forgetting, forgetting leads to a long pause and that leads to INSTANT PANIC. Trying to remember the words exactly, especially when your heartbeat is racing at 50mph, is a Herculean task. While preparing for your speech, don't write down the whole script, only make bullet points of the important topics. After that, just memorize those bullet points and practice accordingly to that. Not only will it be easier to remember, but if you forget something then you can just start blabbering away and people will think that you know what you're talking about!😂

2.THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CONFIDENCE - OVERCONFIDENCE!!

Ever heard of this famous saying - "Fake it till you make it"? That's exactly what overconfidence means! Take Jimmy Fallon or Ellen DeGeneres for example. They come out on that stage like they own the show! (which they do but try to ignore that😅) The simple trick is that you just need to make your audience believe that you got it and then just go with the flow! But for that, it's important to have a little bit of overconfidence and faith in yourselves, and then just trust the process👍

3.STOP! NO "Ummms" ALLOWED HERE!!

Most of us have this habit of saying "Ummm" as soon as we forget anything. One way to prevent this is to speak a little slowly, but firmly. Emphasize on important words or messages that you need to convey. Also, if you forget some point, then instead of saying "Ummm" and trying to fill the gap, just keep your mouth shut and look as if you're in some deep philosophical thought, then try to remember that point. After all it's just about fooling the audience right?😜

4.THE IMPORTANCE OF SIMPLY WAVING YOUR HANDS

Hand gestures are a really important part of any speech. It makes the audience realize that you are enthusiastic about the topic and that you are ready to steal the show. Also, these hand gestures help in emphasizing the important points, but try not to overdo it...you don't wanna look crazy!đŸƒâ€â™€ïžđŸƒâ€â™€ïž

5.ADD AN INTERESTING TOUCH TO PREVENT A SLEEPY AUDIENCE

To convey your idea successfully to a certain group of people, show them that you can relate with them, whether it's their problems, their routine, anything! This makes the audience more interested and curious about the topic and hence catches their connection. Include some personal life stories, some hilarious experiences or some lessons learnt to keep them engrossed in your speech.😍👌

Good opportunities are like diamonds, rare to find and too precious to let go off. It's up to you to decide which opportunities are worth taking a risk for. Of course, every try does not lead to success, and sometimes you might be to afraid of failure to try out new things, but remember - Fear is only temporary, regrets are forever. Always be on the lookout for new experiences and never regret a day in your life as good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worst days give lessons and best days give memories. Be ever-ready for a challenge and just go out there and try your best! I sincerely hope that these five tricks help you to overcome your fear of public speaking. Stay tuned and the next five will be posted soon :) And as rightly said by the great author Mark Twain - "Twenty years from now you will be disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones that you did do".
